BUILDING A NEW PROGRAM

ABOUT THE REPERTORY THEATRE OF ST. LOUIS

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis is the region’s most honored live professional theatre company. Founded in 1966, The Rep is a fully professional theatrical operation belonging to the League of Resident Theatres and The League of St. Louis Theatres and is a constituent member of Theatre Communications Group, Inc., the national service organization for the not-for-profit professional theatre.

Each year The Rep provides arts and lifelong learning programs to engage audiences in the making of theatre and its value in everyday life. These programs, for K-12 students and adults of all ages, help the community make meaningful, personal connections between the arts and their own lives through theatre.

The Rep offers a broad array of learning and community engagement programming, including but not limited to: discounted Lifelong Learning Matinees for student and senior groups on weekday mornings, a performance and tech summer camp program, community presentations about the making of theatre, touring Theatre for Young Audiences productions, civic conversations and post-show discussions, and an in-school storytelling residency program for students in grades K-12.

STORY 2 STAGE

In 2020, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’s Learning and Community Engagement Department began the journey of reimagining programming during a time of great uncertainty and change. Story 2 Stage was launched as a pilot program in the fall of 2021, serving middle and high school students at Grand Center Arts Academy in St. Louis, Missouri. This 10-session residency program unlocks the power of storytelling by mining lived experiences, imaginations, and aspirations. The innovative, world-building curriculum, designed for learners of all ages, leads to the development of youth creating their own fully realized plays.
